Hawaii must draw on a diversified portfolio of renewable energy sources — wind, sun, ocean, geothermal and biomass — to achieve the state’s clean energy goals. The trade winds, our greatest source of renewable energy, blow strongest on the North Shore of Oahu, the island’s final frontier for development of a wind farm that will deliver sustainable clean energy to the people of Oahu.

The Na Pua Makani wind energy project would be located near the community of Kahuku, adjacent to the existing Kahuku Wind Farm. The first phase of the project would be a 27-megawatt wind energy generating facility, consisting of up to 9 wind turbines.
